We are seeking a highly skilled Guidance Counselor to join our team at Lowell Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing guidance and support to students, parents, and teachers to ensure the academic and personal success of our students.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement guidance programs to promote student academic achievement and personal growth.
- Provide individual and group counseling to students, addressing academic, social, and emotional concerns.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to ensure a comprehensive and supportive learning environment.
- Administer and interpret standardized tests to inform instruction and support student progress.
- Develop and maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including academic and personal information.
- Communicate with parents and guardians to keep them informed of student progress and provide support as needed.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in guidance and counseling.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Licensure valid for service as a Guidance Counselor in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- At least five years of successful teaching or related experience.
The Guidance Counselor will work in a fast-paced and dynamic school environment, interacting with students, parents, and staff on a regular basis. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a team setting and maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
