Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Commercial Underwriter to join our team at First Citizens Bank. As a key member of our commercial lending team, you will be responsible for leading underwriting efforts and providing expertise in structuring, analysis, and credit documentation for commercial credit actions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwriting: Lead the underwriting of commercial credit actions according to applicable regulations, procedures, and guidelines. Interact directly with customers to gather information throughout the approval process and to determine the viability of repayment.
  • Risk Management: Identify risks through reviews, analysis, and research of new and existing commercial loans. Work closely with Bank associates and partners to resolve risk issues, communicating review schedule and potential changes in the commercial portfolio.
  • Analysis: Source, compile, and interpret financial data to support structuring and approval of loans. Review industry information and comparisons, key risks and mitigants, and collaterals to form a general business overview of the borrower.
  • Business Support: Assist in identifying cross-sales opportunities for new and existing relationships based on analysis activities. Identify servicing information and prepares credit analysis documentation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Underwriting C&I and Medical, Commercial Credit Analysis, Lending, Financial Statement Spreading, Preparation of Projections, and Trailing Twelve Month Analysis.
  • OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Underwriting in C&I and Medical, Commercial Credit Analysis, Lending, Financial Statement Spreading, Preparation of Projections, and Trailing Twelve Month Analysis.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with credit relationships 5 million and above, Microsoft Excel competency required, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
