Job Title: Head of Quality Engineering Media Services

At Apple, we're looking for a seasoned leader to head up our Quality Engineering organization for Media Services and Data. This role will oversee a team of 100+ full-time employees who develop quality engineering systems and tests.

About the Role

The team is responsible for qualifying a large number of diverse systems that operate at massive scale, from server APIs powering our media experiences to machine learning stacks underlying intelligent search and personalization, to data pipelines producing business-critical datasets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of quality engineers to develop and implement quality engineering systems and tests.
  • Oversee the qualification of diverse systems that operate at massive scale.
  • Collaborate with other quality and engineering organizations to establish partnerships and drive quality through tools, systems, and automation.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience leading quality teams.
  • Experience leading large technical organizations.
  • Versed in the practice of QA/QE and track record of improving quality through processes, systems, and automation.
  • Strong technical leadership and keen architecture sense.
  • Capacity to engage in deep technical detail and move fluidly into big-picture thinking.
  • Honed practice of recruiting and developing leaders, setting clear direction and goals, and establishing effective teams.
  • Experience leading distributed teams across cultures, geography, and timezones.
  • High value for teamwork, collaboration, and driving cross-functional alignment.
  • Fluent in influencing without control.
  • Strong practice of stakeholder management.
  • Ability to drive clarity in the midst of ambiguity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience testing server-side systems.
  • Experience planning and leading software release cycles.
  • Experience with data quality and big data technologies (e.g. Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Flink).
  • Machine learning experience.
