Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Cabinet Maker Sr to join our team at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for fabricating complex cabinets and other wood-surfaced subassemblies for installation in aircraft.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabrication and Quality Control: Fabricate high-quality furniture and other wood-surfaced subassemblies using stationary and handheld tools, ensuring compliance with customer-approved design samples.
- Design Interpretation and Coordination: Interpret material specifications and design/engineering drawings to ensure finished products meet design and engineering requirements with a high level of quality and detail, coordinating with supervision as needed.
- Process Improvement and Safety: Work with lead and higher-skilled technicians to develop and implement process improvements that increase safety, reduce cost, cycle time, and man-hours using Lean Six-Sigma and other process improvement techniques, while championing safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies.
- Material Tracking and Team Leadership: Utilize the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign-off work, accepting lead responsibilities when required, mentoring and training lesser-skilled technicians, and overseeing projects and coordinating with lead to delegate tasks to assigned technicians.
- Additional Responsibilities: Conduct safety audits, assist team members in doing safety audits, maintain shop equipment and associated JSAs, coordinate with other backshops when necessary, adapt to sudden schedule changes, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required, 4 years of experience in cabinetmaking, and experience in the aerospace industry preferred.
- Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication skills, ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, ability to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift, computer literacy, advanced knowledge of cabinetmaking processes and products, and working knowledge of Gulfstream inspection and process specifications preferred.
