Job Description

Sherman & Reilly Inc. is seeking a Lead Product Developer to join our team. This is a critical role that requires a strong background in mechanical engineering and product development.

Estimated Salary:

$100,000 - $125,000 per year, depending on experience.

About the Role

This role involves designing and developing innovative products that meet specific customer needs. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure design manufacturability, profitability, and successful transition to production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop innovative product concepts based on direction from product managers, market research, and customer contacts.
  • Create detailed drawings for estimating product cost and building prototypes.
  • Lead the assembly and testing of prototypes to validate designs.
  • Work closely with manufacturing and quality engineers to ensure design manufacturability and profitability.
  • Present ideas, concepts, and designs to other engineers, product managers, and upper management for reviews and approvals.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering; MBA is a plus.
  • Proven experience in product development within heavy manufacturing, with a history of successful product launches.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver on time and within budget.
  • In-depth knowledge of heavy manufacturing processes, materials, and industry standards.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
Physical Requirements

This role requires:

  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Use of hand tools such as wrenches, hammers, impact drivers, drills, and other common tools.
  • Climb on and off mobile equipment to access mechanical and electrical components.
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time while wearing appropriate safety gear and steel-toed boots.
