We are looking for a psychologist to enhance our expanding psychology team. This role is part of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, providing services to collegiate student-athletes. There are opportunities to innovate and expand clinical services tailored for these athletes. The position entails collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to support student-athletes dealing with pre-existing and newly emerging behavioral health issues related to sports injuries and performance.
This role presents excellent prospects for involvement in training and research, aligned with the candidate's interests. Faculty members at Akron Children's Hospital actively engage in training psychology and neuropsychology fellows, practicum students, and medical residents. Research opportunities are plentiful for faculty interested in advancing their academic pursuits.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical psychology, sports psychology, or counseling psychology is required, along with completion of an internship in an APA/CPA-accredited program. Candidates must be eligible for licensure in Ohio and have completed a formal fellowship or postdoctoral program. Experience working with elite and collegiate athletes is preferred. Certification as a CMPC is also preferred. Board certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology must be achieved within five years of employment.
