GAI Consultants is seeking an experienced Assistant Engineering Manager to lead our civil discipline team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing direction to our engineering and drafting staff, preparing and checking calculations, and developing drawings and deliverables. You will also be responsible for budget tracking, coordination with the Engineering Manager and Project Manager, and collaboration with other discipline leads.

Key Responsibilities
  • Staff management duties include planning, mentoring, and coaching junior level engineering and drafting staff.
  • Task management duties include staff planning, budget/schedule management, scope change management, quality assurance/peer reviews, report writing, staff mentorship, and client coordination.
  • Draft site reports, design narratives, meeting minutes, and project memorandums.
  • Collaborate with other engineering leads for resource and schedule management, performance of QA/QC peer reviews, and staff mentorship.
  • Independently conduct field condition assessments.
  • Perform projects that are managed by other engineering leads.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work at heights over 25 ft.
  • Must be able to wear and work in Personal Protection Equipment.
  • Must be capable of leading, and training staff to perform field visits to client sites to obtain photos, physical measurements, view site conditions, inspect E&S controls, perform infiltration testing.
  • Ability to work independently and direct/oversee engineering and drafting staff on a project basis.
  • Possess strong communication skills that will allow for a collaborative environment with other engineering disciplines.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in a related field.
  • S. or M.S. Engineering degree.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states.
