Job Summary:
The Sushi Chef II is a highly skilled and experienced culinary professional responsible for preparing traditional Japanese sushi dishes. This role requires expertise in knife skills, sushi preparation, and food safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare traditional Japanese sushi rice and ingredients
- Chop, slice, and fillet various types of fish and vegetables
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Minimize waste and costs through proper utilization of resources
- Lead by example at the sushi bar, ensuring smooth operations and excellent customer service
Requirements:
- Minimum of two years in the food service industry; sushi rolling experience required
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Excellent knife skills and experience in cutting large fish for sashimi & nigiri
- Valid food handler's license, with sound knowledge of food safety regulations
- The ability to stand for long periods of time and work under pressure
