ROV Pilot/Technician Job Summary

Ballard Marine Construction is seeking a highly skilled ROV Pilot/Technician to join our Robotics and Survey Division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to support various marine operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain ROVs to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Troubleshoot basic electrical problems and perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Oversee and assist with data processing and reporting efforts.
  • Perform sonar data collection and processing.
  • Coordinate and conduct field operations.
  • Analyze objectives and specifications to prepare reports.
  • Maintain ROVs in good operating condition.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical associate's degree or technical trade school preferred.
  • Commercial Driver's License, or the ability to obtain preferred.
  • One (1) year's experience working in electrical, electronic, or mechanics.
  • One (1) year's experience operating small inspection class ROVs.
  • Experience with both fiber optic and copper-based systems.
  • Proven track record in ROV operations.
Physical Demands:

Work will take place outside, at sea, and/or mobilized, frequently working on or near moving and vibrating equipment up to 50% of the time. Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 10 F degrees) temperatures. Will work in confined spaces, kneel, jump, run, work while lying on stomach/back, crawl, and use repetitive movements of the arms and hands.
