Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax and Accounting Professional to join our team at Sumitomo Rubber North America Inc. as a Senior Tax and Accounting Specialist. This role will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of key tax and accounting functions, ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and international tax laws, and providing support for regulatory audits and tax policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing all key tax and accounting functions for the company, including federal, state, local, and international tax compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures and IFRS reporting requirements for fixed asset, lease, and cash accounting functions.
  • Support the preparation of regulatory audits, develop and implement necessary tax policies, and maintain all required company tax records and documentation.
  • Assist in obtaining Advanced Pricing Agreements (APAs) with the IRS, document transfer pricing methodology, and conduct related transfer pricing studies to support the company's approach.
  • Leverage technology to improve processes and set an example of integrity, accountability, and urgency for colleagues.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive tax and full-cycle accounting experience, with at least 1-2 years in a CPA firm, preferably focusing on preparing/reviewing general ledgers, financial statements, income tax provisions, and FIN 48/IFRIC 23 analyses.
  • Experience should include preparing federal and multi-state income tax returns and conducting tax research in various areas, including international tax, state unitary analysis, and consolidated federal returns.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge and practical application of federal and state income tax laws, and certain areas of international tax law, along with thorough knowledge of financial accounting and GAAP and/or IFRS.
  • Experience in a distribution environment is preferred.
Education and Certification
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from an accredited university is required.
  • CPA license or actively working towards a CPA license is preferred.
Skills
  • Energetic, trustworthy, and confident team member able to collaborate across a diverse group of colleagues to meet and exceed the company's objectives and goals.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) with advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to perform high-quality tax and accounting research using sophisticated online databases.
  • Prior experience with Oracle preferred.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of an organization, outside tax consultants, and taxing authorities.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
  • Highly organized with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
