We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Department Technician to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a key member of our emergency department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care, including vital sign monitoring, EKGs, and blood glucose monitoring, under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Assist with patient flow and room placement, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for patients and families.
- Collaborate with the registered nurse and multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and ensure seamless transitions.
- Perform phlebotomy, glucose monitoring, and other procedures as delegated by the registered nurse.
- Document patient information accurately and completely in the electronic medical record.
- Participate in post-mortem care and provide support to patients and families during difficult times.
- High school graduate or equivalent required; CNA or other certification preferred.
- 1-2 years of related job experience preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and clearly speak English; basic clerical and computer skills required.
- Knowledge of basic patient care and basic mathematical skills required.
This role requires standing, walking, and frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting, and lifting. May be exposed to infectious diseases and physical, mental, and emotional illness. Moderate stress and risk of injury from patient care.
