Job Description
As a school psychologist, you will conduct psychological assessments and evaluations for students to determine eligibility for special education services. You will also develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers, parents, and other professionals. The responsibilities of this role include providing direct counseling services to students, consulting with teachers and parents to develop strategies for improving student outcomes, and participating in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need a master's or doctoral degree in school psychology from an accredited program, valid Illinois state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a school psychologist, and experience working with children and adolescents in an educational setting. You will also need strong assessment, counseling, and intervention skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
State Licensure Requirements
Candidates must possess or be eligible for licensure as a school psychologist in the state of Illinois.
