Under supervision, the Field Services Technician is tasked with delivering technical assistance to clients and their contractors. This role encompasses support in the assembly, installation, and mechanical functioning of new equipment in operational settings. Furthermore, the Field Services Technician offers Inspection Services, Preventative Maintenance Planning, and Shutdown Planning for clients. This position also involves aiding in the inspection of fabricated equipment both on-site and in the workshop, while supporting other divisions (Process Optimization, Training, and Automation).

Key Responsibilities: Including but not limited to:

  • Assist clients and contractors in the assembly and installation of new process machinery. Provide technical guidance and training to clients regarding the mechanical/process operation of equipment.
  • Draft detailed field inspection reports and punch lists.
  • Deliver Inspection Services, Preventative Maintenance Planning, and Shutdown Planning for clients.
  • Support additional Field Services Divisions (Process Optimization, Training, and Automation).
  • Conduct inspections of fabricated equipment in alignment with the global quality control program.
  • Collaborate with the Global Quality Assurance Director, Regional Quality Specialist, Project Management, and Field Service to schedule fabrication inspections.
  • Address concerns and prepare written reports on fabricator inspections.
  • Work alongside the Global Quality Assurance Director and Regional Quality Specialists to ensure fabricators comply with quality, drawing, and code standards, fostering product consistency among suppliers.
  • Coordinate with the purchasing/receiving department to assess locally fabricated equipment and components, report issues, and prepare written supplier inspection reports.
  • Monitor fabrication timelines and provide progress updates between fabricators and project management.
  • Adhere to all company and OSHA safety regulations and follow the safety protocols of fabricators and clients while on-site.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Mechanical or Process Manager - Field Services.
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical institution.
  • 2+ years of mechanical experience in equipment fabrication, installation, and/or startup operations.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Millwright work
    • Welding and inspection
    • Rigging
    • Field repairs
    • Oilseeds Plant Operations
  • Ability to interpret equipment drawings and schematics is essential.
  • Proven experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams, delivering value for end clients, and driving operational excellence within assigned responsibilities.
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative, and capable of collaborating across various regions and functions in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, and suppliers.
  • High integrity and ethical standards.
  • Must be fluent in English; proficiency in a second language (preferably European or Asian languages) is a plus.
  • Preferred knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with computers and applications such as Microsoft Office.
Working Conditions:
  • Approximately 50% of time spent in an office environment.
    • Office conditions are standard.
  • Approximately 50% of time spent in a plant environment.
  • Plant conditions may involve exposure to chemicals, hazardous materials, and noise; potential work at heights, in confined spaces, and in adverse weather conditions.
