Job Description:

NuvoLogic Consulting, a leading management consulting firm in the Northern Virginia area, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator to join our team.

About the Role:

We are looking for a seasoned database professional to support the Small Business Administration's (SBA) Office of Disaster Recovery & Resilience (ODR&R). As a Senior Database Administrator, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing complex database systems that underpin our advanced data analytics tools and products used in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement robust database solutions that ensure high performance, security, and reliability.
  • Tune database performance, manage data integration, and support complex data processing tasks.
  • Collaborate closely with the Scrum Team, Product Owner, and other stakeholders to ensure database solutions align with project objectives and support critical decision-making processes.
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning measures to ensure high availability and efficient data processing.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to safeguard sensitive data and ensure database systems comply with relevant regulations and best practices for data protection and privacy.
  • Develop and manage backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Support data integration efforts by managing ETL processes and ensuring smooth data flow between systems.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot database issues, working closely with IT teams, data scientists, and other stakeholders to resolve database-related problems.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, procedures, and changes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in database administration, with a strong focus on complex database systems and data management.
  • Proven experience in database design, performance tuning, security, backup and security management.
  • Experience with database management systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
  • Required Skills:
    • Expertise in database architecture, design, and performance optimization.
    • Strong knowledge of data security best practices and regulatory requirements.
    • Proficient in database scripting and programming languages (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL).
    • Strong knowledge of database design, data modeling, and ETL processes.
    • Experience with data integration tools and technologies.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
    • Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) or similar are highly desirable.
