KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Cemetery Management

  • Supervise the operations of various cemeteries, establishing and communicating work standards, quality, and safety expectations to ensure exceptional service delivery. Coordinate staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage while minimizing overtime.
  • Oversee grounds maintenance, landscaping, and seasonal plantings to maintain a welcoming and well-kept appearance across properties, which may include funeral homes, crematories, or mausoleums. Ensure adherence to environmental and safety regulations while fostering relationships with local authorities for swift issue resolution.
  • Identify and implement operational efficiencies while supporting change initiatives within the organization.
  • Source and select vendors, manage procurement, and maintain an adequate inventory of tools and materials. Review and authorize invoices for payment while ensuring equipment is well-maintained.
  • Manage new mausoleum construction projects, including obtaining designs, preparing budgets, and overseeing vendor selection. Collaborate with corporate offices on capital projects, managing timelines and resources effectively.
  • Develop and manage the annual operating and personnel budgets, planning for equipment replacements as necessary.
Team Development
  • Foster a strong, trustworthy, and capable team by understanding individual career aspirations and providing opportunities for skill development. Address issues constructively and provide timely feedback to enhance employee engagement and reduce turnover.
  • Responsible for screening and hiring skilled candidates, recommending promotions and pay increases based on performance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of cemetery maintenance experience with progressive responsibilities.
  • At least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with environmental regulatory compliance.
  • Background in new construction and capital project development.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations relevant to the industry.
  • Understanding of wildlife regulations applicable to cemetery operations.
  • Familiarity with staff and public safety regulations in the industry.
