With an aging population, increasing rates of obesity and diabetes, and a rise in surgical procedures, the demand for expert care for non-healing wounds is growing significantly.

As a Wound Care Center Practical Nurse (LPN), you will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider, delivering wound-related and fundamental nursing care to patients in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide wound-related patient care under the guidance of the RN/Provider, adhering to Basic Life Support (BLS) protocols and hospital standards.
  • Assist in vein clinic operations after completing the necessary training.
  • Support intake and discharge processes as needed.
  • Gather patient information and prepare necessary equipment and supplies for the RN or Provider.
  • Report any quality of care concerns to the Clinical Nurse Manager.
  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding therapeutic interventions to ensure high-quality care.
  • Perform hyperbaric oxygen therapy duties after completing required training.
  • May serve as a Documentation Assistant (scribe) in line with Healogics policy.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED).
  • Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program or state-approved educational program.
  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the state of practice, maintained throughout employment.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as an LPN/LVN, including at least one year in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or Long-Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH).
  • Preferred experience in wound care.

Essential Skills:
  • Proficient in Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management abilities.
  • Basic understanding of regulatory and accrediting requirements for healthcare organizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Familiarity with computerized nursing systems.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of a computer and other equipment.
  • Capable of lifting and moving items up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Exposure to various patient care environments and potential hazards.
