Healogics stands as the leading provider of advanced wound care services in the United States, catering to over 300,000 chronic wound patients each year across more than 600 locations. With an aging population, increasing rates of obesity and diabetes, and a rise in surgical procedures, the demand for expert care for non-healing wounds is growing significantly.
As a Wound Care Center Practical Nurse (LPN), you will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider, delivering wound-related and fundamental nursing care to patients in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide wound-related patient care under the guidance of the RN/Provider, adhering to Basic Life Support (BLS) protocols and hospital standards.
- Assist in vein clinic operations after completing the necessary training.
- Support intake and discharge processes as needed.
- Gather patient information and prepare necessary equipment and supplies for the RN or Provider.
- Report any quality of care concerns to the Clinical Nurse Manager.
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding therapeutic interventions to ensure high-quality care.
- Perform hyperbaric oxygen therapy duties after completing required training.
- May serve as a Documentation Assistant (scribe) in line with Healogics policy.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED).
- Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program or state-approved educational program.
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the state of practice, maintained throughout employment.
- Minimum of two years of experience as an LPN/LVN, including at least one year in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or Long-Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH).
- Preferred experience in wound care.
Essential Skills:
- Proficient in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management abilities.
- Basic understanding of regulatory and accrediting requirements for healthcare organizations.
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Familiarity with computerized nursing systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
- Frequent use of a computer and other equipment.
- Capable of lifting and moving items up to 75 pounds with assistance.
- Exposure to various patient care environments and potential hazards.
