The Department of Animal Services is seeking three dedicated Veterinary Technicians who are committed to delivering exceptional care to animals within the City's animal care facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
A Veterinary Technician plays a crucial role in assisting Veterinarians by executing routine and specialized tasks related to the medical or surgical treatment of animals at the City's shelters. Responsibilities include performing euthanasia-by-injection and administering vaccinations under the supervision of a licensed Veterinarian, providing emergency medical care to injured animals, and undertaking related duties.
Veterinary Technicians must be prepared to work at any of the shelters across the City and may be required to work during weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS
A Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) certificate, issued by the State of California Veterinary Medical Board, is mandatory at the time of application.
COMPENSATION:
The starting annual salary is $54,496, with annual step increases. Comprehensive medical and dental benefits are included.
