About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Animal Care Technician I to join our Insourcing Solutions team in South San Francisco, CA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of our research animals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor daily animal health and welfare, performing daily animal health observations and reporting any concerns to the on-site Supervisor or facility veterinarian.
  • Perform animal husbandry duties, including providing food and water, cleaning cages, and maintaining accurate records of animal health and welfare.
  • Operate equipment and use supplies according to guidelines, ensuring the highest level of animal care and safety.
  • Collaborate with the on-site Supervisor and facility veterinarian to develop and implement animal care protocols and procedures.
  • Provide study support on non-invasive techniques, including animal fasting, body weight measurement, and food and water measurement.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in animal or life sciences field preferred.
  • Minimum of one year related laboratory animal experience required; AALAS certification at the ALAT level/CALAS preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time, with frequent bending and stooping.
