Sentara Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist for our Central Float Pool. This is a full-time position with day shifts, offering a 12-hour work schedule.

About the Role:
The Central Float Pool at Sentara Healthcare is designed to provide support to various units experiencing increased demand due to patient acuity or staffing needs. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will primarily work in Intermediate Care Units or Medical/Surgical departments. This role is perfect for those who thrive in dynamic environments and are eager to develop new competencies.

Our program includes comprehensive training and mentorship opportunities for Registered Nurses interested in transitioning to critical care settings such as ICU and Emergency Departments.

Qualifications:
  • Active RN License - Required
  • BSN or MSN - Preferred
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program - Required
  • Consideration for candidates currently completing a nursing program with relevant clinical experience

Experience:
  • 2 years of nursing experience - Preferred
  • Experience in Critical Care - Preferred
  • BLS certification within 90 days of hire
  • ACLS certification within 1 year of hire

Key Responsibilities:
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Conducting patient assessments and admissions
  • Performing routine checks and monitoring patient progress
  • Administering medications and treatments
  • Communicating effectively with patients' families
  • Ensuring comprehensive care for all assigned patients
