Job Summary:

i3 is seeking a highly skilled Model-Based Systems Engineer to support systems engineering and modeling activities for Department of Defense customers. This position is located in Huntsville, AL with hybrid options available.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will use MBSE tools and techniques to support enterprise architecture development, requirements development and decomposition, system design and design verification, interface development, and verification/validation activities. Tasks will include development and maintenance of in-house and external models in a collaborative environment to support DoD acquisition and test and evaluation activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in the development of system integration plans, procedures, and scenarios used in the conduct of software and hardware system integration testing and perform analysis of integration results to assess system impacts.
• Utilize MBSE tools (e.g., Dassault Systèmes MagicDraw and Teamwork Cloud) to support requirements development, system design and integration, and the development of enterprise capabilities, phases, and mission threads.
• Develop and maintain models using modeling languages such as Unified Modeling Language (UML), Systems Modeling Language (SysML), and Unified Architecture Framework Modeling Language (UAFML).
• Develop Enterprise models including strategic and operational viewpoints with traceability to system architectures.
• Develop system and system of systems models and create representations using data architectures and data models to facilitate interoperability.
• Utilize strong written, communication, and presentation skills, and work effectively in a team environment.
• Review system engineering documentation and model artifacts to ensure accuracy.
• Participate in the development of trade studies to support the selection of preferred design solutions and course of action alternatives in project development/product delivery.
• Participate in project/program technical risk analysis and mitigation.
• Analyze and evaluate systems and systems of systems using MBSE artifacts.

Requirements:

• ABET accredited BS in engineering. Additional experience may substitute.
• Minimum of 3 years of systems engineering experience preferred.
• Experience with various model-based system engineering tools Cameo, Magic Draw, Rhapsody.
• Knowledge of system architecture development and the systems engineering process.
• Understanding of system interface requirements and interface management.
• At least 2 years of experience with at least one of the following modeling languages: UML, SysML, UAFML preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret level security clearance.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Formal systems engineering training.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Velocity.
• Experience supporting DoD programs is preferred.
• Experience in modeling with the Unified Architecture Framework.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
• OMG Certified System Modeling Professional Model User or higher.
