Pharmacist Job Description

Cencora is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacist to join our team. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will be responsible for interpreting physicians' prescriptions, compounding and dispensing medications, and providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:
  • Dispense inpatient and outpatient medications, verifying prescriptions according to professional standards, facility procedures, and state and federal legal requirements.
  • Consult with patients regarding medications or supplies prescribed, including dosage, frequency, specialized requirements, and possible drug interactions.
  • Work closely with patients to answer all questions and/or concerns regarding their prescriptions.
  • Review and evaluate patient plans of care for obvious conflicts.
  • Manage associate relations functions for pharmacy technicians, including hiring, terminating, and performance management.
  • Monitor the overall performance of staff members to ensure compliance with policies, practices, and approved pharmaceutical dispensing processes.
  • Maintain established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and record keeping.
  • Make recommendations to the manager regarding changes to operating procedures to facilitate smooth customer service operations.
  • Perform prescription verification of unit dose orders, order entry, and verification of IV admixtures, providing technical guidance to pharmacy technicians.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, requests, and issues when situations escalate to a higher level of authority.
  • Provide consulting on pharmaceutical matters to various levels of personnel regarding pharmacy operations.
  • Review daily reporting and scheduling of hours worked for pharmacy technicians, including sick time, vacation time, personal time, and holiday time.
  • Supervise activities relative to customer files and contacts, ensuring they are updated as needed to comply with current licensing.
  • Lead department meetings and in-service training for pharmacy technicians.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Broad training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences, or similar vocations, generally obtained through completion of a four-year Bachelor's Degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years directly related and progressively responsible experience; a Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • An unrestricted, current state license as a Registered Pharmacist in the resident state.
