Job Overview

Position Summary: The Sanitation Lead is responsible for upholding the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and sanitation protocols throughout the production environment. This role involves adhering to established procedures for the application of cleaning agents to ensure equipment is sanitized and the workspace remains hygienic for the safe processing of food products. The Sanitation Lead plays a crucial role in executing the Master Sanitation Schedule and overseeing daily cleaning tasks necessary for the ongoing production of safe, high-quality food items. This position requires regular communication with supervisors regarding progress and any unusual circumstances.

Department: Sanitation

Reports To: Sanitation Supervisor

Work Environment: All areas within the facility, including but not limited to:

  1. Zone 1 Areas - Direct Food Contact Surfaces
  2. Zone 2 Areas - Indirect Food Contact Surfaces
  3. Zone 3 Areas - Adjacent to Food Contact Surfaces
  4. Zone 4 Areas - Warehouse, Shipping and Receiving Dock, Entryways, Utility Areas, and Outdoor Grounds

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Consistently monitor production zones to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  2. Act as a mentor and support for team members in maintaining sanitary operations.
  3. Ensure adherence to all GMPs as outlined by SnackCraft.
  4. Execute sanitation tasks as per the Master Sanitation Schedule and Daily Housekeeping protocols.
  5. Notify supervisors when supplies require replenishment.
  6. Lead, train, and inspire the sanitation team during cleaning operations.
  7. Foster the development of sanitation team members in their daily responsibilities.
  8. Possess knowledge of HACCP, FDA, and OSHA standards; basic understanding of inventory management.
  9. Understand chemical concentration testing and the operation of COP and CIP systems.
  10. Familiarity with refractometers is advantageous.
  11. Adhere to and enforce all OSHA safety regulations and protocols.
  12. Report safety issues to the Safety Committee.
  13. Propose suggestions for ongoing improvements.

Additional Duties:

  1. General Requirements:
  2. Reliable transportation and consistent attendance are essential.
  3. Maintain clean attire and demonstrate good personal hygiene.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
  5. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary.
  6. Conduct daily housekeeping and ensure compliance with GMPs.
  7. Regularly monitor waste collection stations to prevent risks to personnel and food safety.
  8. Promptly address spills to mitigate risks to personnel and food products.
  9. Ensure utensils and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are routinely inspected, cleaned, and restocked.
  10. Continuously identify and rectify GMP violations as they arise.
  11. Program Responsibilities:
  12. Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS): Complete tasks as per the Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure.
  13. Document work completed for auditing purposes.
  14. Internal Pest Management (IPM): Identify potential pest issues and communicate them to supervisors.
  15. Assist in pest inspection and removal as necessary.
  16. Chemical Control: Oversee the safe handling and usage of cleaning chemicals.
  17. Ensure proper labeling, storage, and disposal of cleaning agents.
  18. Conduct daily pre-operational inspections and manage cleaning documentation.
  19. Assist in training staff on cleaning procedures and requirements.
  20. Carry out specific cleaning tasks as assigned and manage related paperwork.
