Our facility is recognized for its strong community ties and high quality of life. We produce premium precooked egg patties and a variety of French Toast products.
Key Responsibilities:
Hours: 5:30am - 6pm Schedule: 12 hours (2,2,3)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Supervisor is tasked with overseeing, guiding, and executing all maintenance operations, including emergency repairs, reactive maintenance, and proactive maintenance initiatives.
This position mandates strict adherence to safety protocols and the reinforcement of safety as a fundamental value.
Ensures compliance with all policies, procedures, and practices related to Food Safety & Quality to minimize product and process variability.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Promote and embody the culture, values, and principles of Michael Foods
Assist in conducting root cause analysis by gathering necessary evidence during shifts. Must comply with all Department/Plant Procedures, including the use of required PPE. Adhere to plant safety, food safety, sanitation standards, and follow all GMP guidelines.
Provide accurate reports on any incidents or work-related injuries during shifts.
Encourage team members through positive engagement and lead by example.
Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (SAP) for ordering and tracking parts, creating work orders, reviewing scheduled tasks, and documenting results of completed work.
Capable of training mechanics on the CMMS system as required. Communicate work results and follow-up actions to relevant teams, including operations, plant leadership, QA, and Safety/Food Safety.Participate in daily shift meetings as necessary; maintain consistent communication and a visible presence in the assigned work area.
Request skill development opportunities for maintenance technicians through the MFI Maintenance skills development program in collaboration with the Maintenance Supervisor and assist in training initiatives.
Provide input for Performance Management evaluations in alignment with the Performance Management program. Execute both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance using precision techniques and troubleshoot intermittent failures. Engage in hands-on work to demonstrate best practices to team members.Plan and direct activities based on plant work priority standards to ensure equipment is maintained to precision levels as per company specifications.
Ensure compliance with maintenance processes by crew members, including escalation protocols.Support technical planners by ensuring technicians provide detailed scopes in their work orders.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and provide feedback on scheduled work and PM activities to the maintenance supervisor and technical planner.
Utilize visual factory and condition monitoring concepts as part of standard operations. Assist in the implementation of capital projects and productivity initiatives as needed.Obtain certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Forklift Operation. May be required to cover for the maintenance supervisor during absences.
Take personal responsibility for maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for all. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and integrate safety and health into all tasks.
Follow quality work practices, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality is upheld. Report any conditions or practices that may negatively impact food safety and quality to management.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards at all times.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
EDUCATION:
Associate's degree in Engineering, Operations, or relevant technical field, or equivalent certification from a trade school.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial operations, plant maintenance, utilities, or a related field.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and piping diagrams. Experience in installing, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical equipment through troubleshooting is essential. Electrical troubleshooting skills are advantageous.
Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical power transmission equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, process pumps, control valves, sensors, positioners, actuators, manifolds, vacuum systems, air filtration, lubrication devices, and basic electrical AC/DC troubleshooting.
Skilled in welding, sanitary welding, pipe fitting, soldering, rigging, and the use of mechanical, hand, and power tools.
Familiarity with machine shop practices to fabricate within specific tolerances using various measuring tools such as vernier calipers and depth gauges. Knowledge of 480v 3 phase systems is required. Familiarity with NFPA 70E standards is preferred. Experience with personal/process control computers, programmable logic controllers (PLC), and networking devices is a plus, with Allen Bradley experience being advantageous.LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Capable of effectively presenting information in both individual and small group settings.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers. Ability to apply these skills in practical scenarios involving currency and various measurements.
REASONING ABILITY:
Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively by motivating and coaching others, showcasing strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven capability to collaborate in a team environment and build positive working relationships with peers and customers.
Ability to adapt to shifting priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment. Proven conflict resolution skills and the ability to think critically through complex issues to reach sound conclusions.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Competent in using Microsoft Office and CMMS systems (preferably SAP). Willingness to travel for training and continuous improvement initiatives.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to endure daily physical demands, including extensive walking, standing, crouching, lifting (over 60 lbs), twisting, climbing, and reaching.
