Salary and Benefits
The compensation for this position is $18-24 hourly, depending on experience. Job Description
As a Certified Medical Assistant, your key duties will include:
- Patient Preparation: Ensure exam rooms are properly set up, confirm patient details, review medical histories, and take vital signs.
- Provider Assistance: Work alongside healthcare providers to assist in patient care, including preparing lab specimens, administering medications, and conducting basic in-office lab tests.
- Patient Education: Offer guidance on medications and dietary instructions, and respond to patient inquiries to help them understand their treatment plans.
- Medical Record Management: Accurately document patient exams, treatments, and test results in the system.
- Billing and Referrals: Assist with billing procedures, complete insurance forms, and manage patient referrals to specialists to ensure a seamless experience.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain office supplies, manage inventory, place orders, and confirm receipt of supplies.
- Equipment Care: Ensure medical equipment is properly maintained, conduct preventive maintenance, and arrange for repairs when necessary.
- Confidentiality: Protect patient information to maintain confidentiality and uphold patient trust in the clinic's operations.
- Ongoing Learning: Stay informed on the latest healthcare practices by participating in training, reading industry publications, and engaging in professional organizations.
- Communication: Maintain clear, professional communication with patients, colleagues, and providers.
- Rooming Patients: Demonstrate proficiency in rooming patients, including obtaining medical histories, measuring vital signs, and documenting information in the EMR system.
- Procedure Assistance: Assist providers during medical procedures, including minor surgeries and specialized exams.
- Problem Solving: Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address clinical challenges effectively.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- High School Diploma/GED
- National Medical Assistant Certification
- 1-2 years MA experience preferred
- EMR experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- General knowledge of office procedures and computer systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to handle a high-stress, busy work environment
- Effective interpersonal and customer service skills
- Team player who thrives under pressure
