Key Responsibilities
The role of the Fleet Operations Supervisor includes:
Leading, mentoring, and developing team members Monitoring employee performance and ensuring accessibility throughout the shop Overseeing operations across multiple service locations Planning daily workforce allocation to meet operational demands Providing support to the operations team on all equipment-related matters Analyzing opportunities to reduce costs and enhance operational efficiencies Handling administrative tasks, including payroll approval, scanner downloads, repair order management, and compliance documentation Addressing corrective actions for direct reports Ensuring a clean and safe working environment for all staff and equipment Communicating with clients to meet operational and company requirements Identifying and tracking equipment sent for external repairs Conducting pre-shift meetings to align team objectives Adhering to all relevant laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures Participating in the recruitment and hiring process for shop positionsRequired Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate will possess:
A minimum of 2 years of experience in fleet maintenance or operations, alongside 5-8 years of direct management experience. Previous experience as a technician or mechanic A high school diploma or equivalent qualification Familiarity with heavy truck and trailer repair and maintenance Willingness to travel as required, overseeing multiple shop locations Comprehensive knowledge of DOT regulations, company policies, and procedures Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills Strong written and verbal communication abilities, including documentation and peer interactions Proficiency in computer applications, including Word, Excel, and Fleet Management systems, with exposure to large ERP/timekeeping systemsWorking Environment
Exposure to heavy traffic conditions while performing job duties. Exposure to significant dust, diesel fumes, and noise levels. Exposure to chemicals, oils, greases, and other irritants. Ability to lift and maneuver heavy objects. Capability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and crawl for vehicle repairs. Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
