Griffith Company invites applications for a highly skilled Project Accountant Assistant to join our dynamic Bakersfield office team.

Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will collaborate closely with the Project Accountants and Lead Project Accountant to monitor job profitability for their respective Region and manage the daily processing of invoices.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Engage with subcontractors to ensure seamless payment processing and compliance.
  • Administer and track subcontractor change orders using DocuSign.
  • Assemble and prepare supporting documents for Time and Materials billing.
  • Facilitate communication between subcontractors, project accountants, and project managers/project engineers.
  • Post daily cost accruals.
  • Assist project managers with the processing of contract billings.
  • Offer administrative support for various projects, reception duties, and other tasks.
  • Oversee accounts payable processing, including:
    • Payment approval requests.
    • Matching invoices to purchase orders.
    • Preparing and coding invoices.
    • Entering invoices into the accounting system.
    • Vendor communication and reconciliation.
    • Discount management.
  • Support collection efforts to reduce past due accounts receivable balances.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • One year of accounting experience.
  • At least one year of high-volume accounts payable experience (1500-2000 invoices/month).
  • Desirable: prior experience with subcontractor payment processing.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Teamwork and collaboration expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes and practices.
Salary and Benefits Package

This role comes with a salary range of $44,800 - $49,600 per annum, contingent on your level of experience.
