We are currently seeking a meticulous and reliable Senior Construction Inspector III to enhance our Infrastructure team Statewide. This role involves overseeing and inspecting construction activities to ensure adherence to project specifications, approved plans, and relevant documentation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and submitting detailed, accurate, and comprehensive inspection reports daily, in line with established quality standards.
  • Reviewing project plans, specifications, and working drawings prior to commencing assigned tasks.
  • Conducting and supervising compliance tests on materials and completed work, utilizing standard methods established by relevant agencies.
  • Training and guiding less experienced team members, assigning work priorities effectively.
  • Assisting in the planning and coordination of inspection operations.
  • Collaborating with contractors and project leaders on-site to discuss testing and inspection processes.
  • Evaluating materials tests and completed work to ensure compliance with established procedures.
  • Ensuring the adequacy of sampling locations to guarantee representative testing.
  • Safely managing all documentation and tools, including company vehicles.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Working closely with supervisors to set priorities and deadlines, providing updates on task progress.
  • Participating in the Raba Kistner Health & Safety Programs, exemplifying our safety standards.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 25 years of experience in roadway construction inspection or NICET Level IV certification in Transportation Engineering Technology (Highway Construction) is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the firm's auto insurability criteria, with the ability to travel to various project sites.

Related experience or education may be considered as a substitute for direct experience. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to follow both verbal and written instructions. Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometric functions, is required. Completion of relevant safety and testing certifications is preferred, with opportunities for obtaining these post-employment. Extensive knowledge of highway construction plans, inspection procedures, and materials testing is crucial. Candidates must also be familiar with traffic control device manuals and auditing techniques.

The physical demands of this position include regular sitting, standing, walking, climbing, and lifting up to 70 pounds. The work environment may involve exposure to construction sites, heavy equipment, and various environmental factors, necessitating adherence to safety protocols and the use of protective equipment.

This role may require flexibility in hours and occasional travel to various locations for project needs.
