Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled **Controls Engineer** to join our team at Navistar, Inc. as a **System Development Specialist**. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for developing advanced control algorithms and software for vehicle motion control systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement control algorithms and software for vehicle motion control systems, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, validation, and system engineering, to ensure seamless integration of control software with hardware.
  • Perform testing of control software on Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) platforms to validate performance and robustness.
  • Conduct vehicle-level testing to ensure system functionality and performance under real-world conditions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software and system issues during development and testing phases.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant automotive standards and safety regulations during software development.
  • Participate in design reviews, peer reviews, and technical discussions to ensure software quality and system optimization.
  • Continuously monitor, analyze, and improve control algorithms to enhance system performance and efficiency.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Computer Science.
  • At least 8 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience.
  • At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities.
Desired Skills
  • Strong experience in developing control algorithms for motion control systems.
  • Proficiency in control software development using MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, or similar programming languages.
  • Experience with model-based design (MBD) tools and techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, including test case development and execution.
  • Knowledge of vehicle dynamics and control system fundamentals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex software and system issues.
  • Familiarity with automotive industry standards (e.g., ISO 26262, ASPICE).
  • Experience with vehicle-level testing and data analysis tools (e.g., CANalyzer, CANape).
