Job Summary

The Senior Controls Engineer is responsible for designing control systems for industrial material handling solutions. This includes developing specifications, device layout drawings, control schematics, PLC logic, and solutions that deliver exceptional customer value.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design system layouts, schematics, and control devices based on customer specifications and scope documentation.
  • Perform diverse, specialized, and complex work involving significant accountability and decision-making.
  • Lead large projects by defining and issuing work to assigned team members or run multiple small projects with minimal direction.
  • Create all project documents according to internal processes to ensure that designs meet customer expectations.
  • Prepare schematics and specifications for control panel fabrication.
  • Maintain a progress schedule that meets project milestones.
  • Provide documentation and support to the field wiring team.
  • Create Programmable Logical Control (PLC) programs.
  • Work closely with the Software Engineering team to integrate control solutions.
  • Perform on-site commissioning.
  • Perform system validation according to scope documentation and project requirements.
  • Direct assigned team in the field and assign priorities consistent with project needs; report progress to project and engineering management.
  • Ensure that all project checklists and electronic documents created by the project team are complete and archived.
  • Provide input to the project lessons learned process.
  • Review customer specifications and scope documentation for quotation and clarification.
  • Perform process checks and design reviews.
  • Provide back-up for Engineering Managers.
  • Follow engineering standards.
  • Travel up to 50%.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience.
  • Experience with industrial HMI and SCADA systems, Allen-Bradley controls/controllers, and Schneider PLCs.
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial automation systems, including HMI and SCADA systems, Allen-Bradley controls/controllers, and Schneider PLCs.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical or other related electrical CAD systems such as EPlan.
  • Ability to lead a team and accomplish project goals effectively.
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to learn new technologies.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours.
