About the Diesel Mechanic Position

As a Diesel Mechanic with First Student, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing school buses to ensure vehicle readiness and safety. Your expertise will be essential in diagnosing and performing all phases of vehicle and equipment repair, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections.
  • Diagnose and repair complex vehicle issues, ensuring timely and efficient resolution.
  • Ensure work orders are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to achieve optimal vehicle uptime and minimize downtime.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license required; willingness to obtain CDL while employed – We train.
  • At least 1 year of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education.
  • Possess a mechanic's tool set and be willing to participate in ASE certification program.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical.
