This position is integral to the Safety, Quality, & Mission Assurance division. This team is dedicated to evaluating and overseeing processes that shape Blue Origin's design, manufacturing, and operational practices, ensuring that safety engineering, environmental health, product integrity, and continuous improvement align with our mission and vision.

As a vital member of a dedicated team comprising specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will employ standard engineering practices to guarantee that controls, gauges, and various instruments utilized in machinery are accurately calibrated. You will utilize analytical and electronic measuring devices along with recording equipment to confirm that all equipment is calibrated correctly and provides precise readings. You will also modify the performance and operation of component parts using testing and precision equipment, analyze test data, and report results along with suggested modifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the local calibration team in maintaining compliance and delivering satisfactory support to internal customers.
  • Analyze and interpret system-level engineering and quality system requirements to establish calibration policies and procedures.
  • Conduct and document calibrations of measurement and testing equipment, instrumentation, and integrated systems.
  • Oversee the management of calibrated tool data.
  • Manage procurement and logistics for third-party calibrations.
  • Evaluate the suitability of third-party vendors for specific calibrations, including vendor uncertainty assessment, equipment accuracy review, and accreditation scope verification.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to rectify performance issues and address instances of errors or non-compliance.
  • Engage with internal customers to ensure the proper calibration of newly acquired tools and systems.
  • Collaborate with the Blue Origin Calibration Team to enhance calibration capabilities across all locations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in PMEL/Calibration industry.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in a calibration laboratory environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience coordinating purchasing and logistics for third-party calibrations.
  • Understanding of the operational theory of measurement and testing equipment for various applications.
  • Familiarity with the selection, use, and maintenance of calibration standards.
  • Experience in developing, operating, and maintaining calibration and testing laboratory equipment systems.
  • Knowledge of industry calibration standards (ANSI NCSL Z540.3, ISO/IEC).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or legally admitted refugee or asylee.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with industry quality and configuration control methodologies (AS9100, ISO:9001).
  • Background in customer service.
  • Experience with calibration management software configuration and administration.
  • Familiarity with the development of calibration management processes and computer systems.
  • Experience in designing and assembling calibration systems.
  • Knowledge of in situ calibration for gaseous and liquid commodity instrumentation.
