The Reliability Engineering Co-op at Goodyear will engage in the development and evaluation of machinery and equipment under the guidance of experienced engineers.

Our co-op participants receive meaningful assignments and are encouraged to work autonomously within our facilities. We emphasize the educational aspect of the co-op experience and pair each student with a dedicated mentor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and testing of machinery and equipment under the supervision of plant engineers and senior staff by performing the following tasks:
  • Analyze project guidelines and schematics to establish testing criteria, methodologies, objectives, necessary equipment, and potential technical challenges, along with solutions such as redesigning components or altering materials.
  • Create detailed drawings or sketches for production or to facilitate parts fabrication.
  • Design, construct, and assemble new or modified mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical components for products including industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Conduct tests on complete units and components under operational conditions to evaluate design proposals aimed at enhancing equipment performance or to gather data for development and quality assurance.
  • Interpret and assess test results in relation to design specifications and objectives, making necessary adjustments to meet required standards.
  • Document testing procedures, results, numerical and graphical data, and suggestions for product or method improvements.
  • May occasionally undertake additional responsibilities to support efficient plant operations.
Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program with at least one year of study completed.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to collaborate with production teams, maintenance staff, vendors, and management.
  • Involvement in presentations and training sessions for plant personnel may be required.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities in troubleshooting and project planning.
