Ambulatory Office Specialist Role Overview
Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a highly skilled Ambulatory Office Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for providing exceptional patient access services in an ambulatory setting, ensuring seamless interactions between patients, providers, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain ambulatory scheduling, pre-registration, pre-certification, and insurance verification policies and procedures.
- Manage referral work queues and registration work queues to ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Capture and enter patient registration and demographic information in the electronic medical record (EPIC) to maximize accuracy.
- Comply with patient financial responsibility and collection policies.
- Provide patients with administrative information and communicate with clinical areas to keep patients informed of delays.
- Schedule follow-up tests upon discharge and participate in audits to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Participate in coding, scheduling, or related activities as required.
- Attempt to mediate scheduling, pre-registration, pre-certification, or registration issues and elevate any issues that cannot be resolved independently.
- Comply with all procedural workflows and departmental policies and procedures.
- Assume other responsibilities as directed by Operations Manager or Director or the practice area.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required; College degree preferred.
- EPIC Cadence and Prelude training required, with passing exam upon completion.
- Proficient PC skills and customer service proficiency required.
- Proficient written and oral communication skills and familiarity with medical terminology required.
