Certified Nurse Assistant I

The Certified Nurse Assistant I works as a member of the nursing team under the direct and indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse. The CNA I assists in the provision of basic patient care as dictated by comfort and safety and in accordance with identified training and certification.
The CNA I maintains confidentiality of all patient and organization records and information. They take responsibility to keep informed of Departmental communications and coordinate with the Charge RN/Supervising RN to provide appropriate coverage when leaving the unit.
The CNA I obtains assignments from the charge nurse/Supervising RN and reports to the RN the status of assignments at regular intervals during shift. They notify the Charge RN/Supervising RN and report to the RN the status of assignments at regular intervals during shift.
The CNA I communicates patient care information so that standards of care are maintained. They communicate with patient, family, and other staff in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner.
The CNA I provides assistance to members or connects member with appropriate person as needed. They maintain safety in use of all equipment and operate and maintain equipment according to manufacturers instructions and hospital policy.
The CNA I identifies patients by checking identification band prior to performing duties. They handle all hazardous waste in compliance with HazCom regulations and handle all infectious waste in compliance with Infection Control standards.
The CNA I performs appropriate role during Codes and delivers all services in a manner which promotes patient comfort and safety. They assist patient(s) and team members in safely lifting, transferring, turning, positioning ambulating and transporting.
The CNA I assists in the application of safety devices as assigned by the RN. They perform delegated tasks as defined in the CNA1Scope of Duties.
The CNA I accurately measures and records vital signs and reports abnormal findings immediately to the supervising RN. They collect and transport specimens when necessary and document completion of delegated tasks on designated chart forms.
The CNA I reports observed change of patient condition to supervising RN and maintains safe, and comfortable environment for patients. They complete tasks in an efficient and timely manner as assigned and collaborate with supervising RN to prioritize tasks according to situation and total assignment.
The CNA I remains adaptable to changes in the work environment and related assignments. They are responsible for maintaining confidentiality of all patient and organization records and information.
