About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Anesthesia Technician to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key member of our anesthesia team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Active participant of the anesthesia team: Provide a full range of specialized procedures and techniques used in the treatment plan for patients undergoing anesthesia, including emergency situations.
  2. Evaluate and maintain equipment: Ensure that all equipment is in good working order and perform routine maintenance tasks as needed.
  3. Collect and process blood specimens: Follow established methods and aseptic techniques to collect and process blood specimens for analysis.
  4. Identify and arrange for in-service education: Work with the Chief of Anesthesia to identify educational needs and arrange for in-service training as needed.
  5. Maintain anesthesia schedules: Work with the Chief of Anesthesia and OR scheduling office to develop and maintain a monthly staffing schedule for all areas requiring assistance.
  6. Oversee equipment and supply utilization: Track and trend supply utilization and eliminate unnecessary or infrequently used supplies.
  7. Organize and manage the anesthesia workroom: Use judgment and initiative to select appropriate instruments and methods, recognize conditions that could have potentially harmful outcomes to patients, and troubleshoot problems with equipment and supplies to avoid complications.
  8. Assist in positioning and supporting patients for regional anesthesia procedures.
  9. Demonstrate a high level of technical competence: Operate, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on a variety of technical equipment in an appropriate and timely manner.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in the OR and familiarity with OR supplies and the hospital setting.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and asepsis, and the ability to apply such skills.

Certification as an Anesthesia Technician or Technologist is preferred.
