About the Role

McLaren Flint is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technical Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of our clinical laboratory section(s). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that testing operates efficiently and effectively, in accordance with all system and regulatory agency standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the assigned laboratory section(s), ensuring that work is done and reported promptly and accurately.
  • Plan daily work schedules and assignments for section(s), supporting the manager(s) in preparing schedules and arranging coverage.
  • Recognize the need for and assume departmental responsibilities daily, when scheduled or in the case of staffing shortages.
  • Ensure testing operates efficiently and effectively, in accordance with all system and regulatory agency standards, by monitoring department turnaround times, investigating and implementing corrective action, and monitoring inventory and ordering supplies.
  • Comply with preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Serve as a technical resource to subordinates in resolving complex problems and in investigating and recommending corrective actions in response to incident reports and/or patient complaints.
  • Ensure the attainment of objectives through developing, training, and evaluating lab staff, participating in the hiring process.
  • Makes suggestions to the manager for improved work methods and ways to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and solve operational problems.
  • Perform and verify staff competencies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in medical technology or a related field.
  • MT (ASCP) or equivalent certification.
  • 4 years' experience in a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Supervisory experience.
