Intermountain Health Laboratory Operations Supervisor - This role is accountable to the Facility Administrator/Operations Officer and Intermountain Laboratory Shared Services, reporting directly to the Lab Shared Services System Operations Director.

The Laboratory Operations Supervisor collaborates with Laboratory leadership and other facility management teams to ensure the delivery of exceptional patient care, achievement of financial objectives, and development of staff.

Responsibilities:
Accountable for maintaining high-quality, standardized laboratory practices while providing cost-effective support to the laboratory. The Supervisor will oversee the operation, functionality, and staffing of facilities within Laboratory Shared Services.

Key Duties:
Advocates for and supports One Intermountain initiatives, promoting the implementation of best practices across Intermountain Laboratory Services.

Ensures service line performance and compliance with safety protocols, as well as federal, state, and other regulatory standards, including but not limited to CLIA, CAP, JC, OSHA, CMS, and other specific accrediting and certifying bodies.

In collaboration with the Lab System Director and Finance Analyst, formulates capital and operational budgets and is responsible for effectively managing laboratory resources and assets.

Oversees all human resource functions, including recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluation.
Ensures adequate staffing levels, appropriate training, and annual competency assessments for all staff.
Facilitates collaborative problem-solving across departments and facilities.
Conducts regular rounds with laboratory staff.
Maximizes the achievement of system and local objectives and initiatives.
Encourages the application of continuous improvement methodologies to ensure quality care delivery.
Utilizes available engagement metrics and national benchmarks to attain desired outcomes in patient experience.
Fosters a workplace culture where staff feel professional, engaged, valued, and recognized.
Exhibits effective communication skills, leadership, and personal accountability.
Maintains hands-on competency skills and adheres to standardized operating procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory/medical technology science from an accredited institution. Education verification required.
Current MLS/MT certification.
Two years of laboratory experience.
Three years of experience in a leadership capacity.
Proven experience in developing, leading, and executing organizational or departmental initiatives.
Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, computer, organizational, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Business, or Health Care Administration.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to operate computers and complex laboratory equipment requiring dexterity and hand coordination.
Ability to verbally communicate information effectively.
Ability to see and read laboratory equipment, monitors, and documents.
Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods while performing work on a computer or other equipment.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40

The hourly compensation for this position is dependent on experience.
