The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing radiographic procedures in line with established professional and departmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of radiologic principles, anatomy, and pathology, employing the most suitable techniques for optimal imaging results.
- Adheres to departmental policies, ensuring all imaging procedures are optimized for accurate interpretation.
- Assists in the education of radiography students in sound radiographic principles as required.
- Effectively communicates with patients to gather clinical histories and secure informed consent, aiding physicians in optimizing examination performance.
- Explains procedures to patients and their families, addressing any concerns to alleviate anxiety and ensure cooperation.
- Recognizes and addresses clinical or emergent issues that may affect imaging outcomes, ensuring the best possible results and patient satisfaction.
- Accurately identifies patients and their records, maintaining a high standard of accuracy in documentation.
- Monitors patient tracking in accordance with departmental procedures, promptly correcting any identified errors.
- Maintains radiation exposure levels within the As Low As Reasonably Achievable limits.
- Utilizes radiation protection measures effectively, including collimation devices and protective shielding.
- Ensures patient safety through proper use of equipment and monitoring techniques.
- Reports and documents any adverse or unusual conditions, maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
- Ensures imaging rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and that expired items are removed.
- Operates imaging equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
- Stays informed about technological advancements and participates in relevant training and seminars.
- Engages in departmental performance improvement initiatives and attends in-services and meetings.
Qualifications
Recent experience in a hospital setting as a Radiologic Technologist is preferred. Must be available for on-call, shift work, holidays, and weekends as needed. Basic computer skills are required.
