Position Overview:
The Department of Orthopedics & Physical Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is in search of dedicated care team members to enhance our outpatient services.
Role Responsibilities:
As a vital part of our healthcare team, you will provide patient and family-centered care, serving as a partner and advisor. Your role will involve assisting patients and their families in effectively managing their healthcare while respecting their individual cultures, values, and treatment preferences.
Utilizing your critical reasoning and clinical judgment, you will ensure timely and appropriate care, particularly for patients presenting with complex health issues. Your problem-solving skills will be essential in addressing clinical challenges within your scope of practice.
Key Duties Include:
- Assisting medical personnel with patient preparation, examinations, and procedures.
- Conducting interviews and screenings to gather personal data and chief complaints.
- Documenting vital signs and maintaining accurate patient records.
- Handling both telephone and in-person patient inquiries regarding medications and medical conditions.
You will also be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in examination rooms and supply areas.
Work Schedule:
This position offers a structured work schedule of Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with no weekend or night shifts.
Qualifications:
For Certified Medical Assistants:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with preferred experience in patient care.
- Basic computer skills and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are required.
For Licensed Practical Nurses:
- Graduation from an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program and current licensure in South Carolina or a compact state.
- Preferred experience as an LPN and current BLS certification.
Physical Requirements:
The role requires the ability to perform various physical tasks, including standing, walking, and lifting. Candidates must possess good vision and hearing acuity, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
