Job Summary

The Piping Sr. Designer is a senior-level design/drafting position responsible for producing design layouts and finished drawings. This role involves custom jobs, including field survey, design sketches, engineering support, layout, and final drawings. The incumbent will ensure that all drawings are accurate and error-free.

Essential Functions
  • Supports Safety and Core Values: Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its Core Values.

  • Coordinates Jobs and Training: Assists the Squad Leader in determining how to best meet job requirements, coordinating jobs, and conducting training.
  • Assists Drafters: Assists Drafters in lower classifications with questions/issues during performance of project work.
  • Performs Layouts and Drawings: Performs basic and complex layouts, produces new drawings, and checks drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Corrects Drawings: Picks-up red marks from check prints and corrects drawings as required.
  • Checks Drawings: Performs detailed dimensional and bill of material check of all drawings.
  • Checks Interferences and Constructability: Checks entire job for interferences and constructability.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Performs additional responsibilities as directed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Related Experience: 4+ years of related tank, vessel, or fabrication experience required.
  • Matrix Experience: 2+ years of experience at Matrix preferred.
  • AutoCAD and Inventor Knowledge: Advanced AutoCAD and/or Inventor knowledge preferred.
  • Drafting Disciplines: Strong understanding of various drafting disciplines such as vessels, structural, etc.
  • Fabrication, Purchasing, and Field Construction: General understanding of fabrication, purchasing, and field construction.
  • Math and Trigonometry: Ability to understand and use general math and advanced trigonometry functions.
  • API, AISC, ASME, and Codes: Advanced knowledge and understanding of API, AISC, ASME, and various codes and standards required for different types of work.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness in work.
  • Overtime: Occasional overtime may be required.
