Application Process
The Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering is seeking to appoint a Graduate Student Instructor (GSI) at a 50% commitment (20 hours per week) for the NAVARCH course. Course Overview
NAVARCH: Course Overview
This course focuses on the structure of ship design, encompassing preliminary design techniques for sizing and form, as well as aspects of powering, maneuvering, and seakeeping estimation. It includes arrangements, propulsion, structural synthesis, and considerations for safety and environmental risks associated with ships. Students will utilize a design computer environment extensively to develop and present their conceptual and preliminary designs for a displacement vessel based on the owner's specifications.
Key Responsibilities*
- Assessing and grading student assignments.
- Conducting regular office hours to support students throughout the course.
- Being accessible via email to assist students with course-related inquiries.
- Attending all lectures and instructor meetings.
- GSIs are expected to be present and available for work prior to the commencement of classes.
Required Qualifications*
- Graduate student in good academic standing.
- Must meet eligibility criteria as specified in the relevant contract.
Preferred Qualifications*
- Proven teaching abilities and experience.
- Familiarity with the course and instructor is advantageous.

Selection Process
