Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough reviews and maintain patient medication records, ensuring safety through the identification of allergies, drug interactions, and therapeutic duplications.
  • Accurately report any suspected adverse drug reactions in a timely manner.
  • Interpret physician orders to prepare, calculate, and dispense the correct medication dosages for both inpatient and outpatient care, adhering to state and federal regulations.
  • Prepare and dispense intravenous admixture solutions using aseptic techniques in a sterile environment.
  • Oversee daily operational tasks and provide guidance to pharmacy technicians, aides, interns, and other support staff involved in pharmaceutical care.
  • Process prescription orders in compliance with state and federal laws, leveraging available technology and equipment.
  • Utilize advanced technologies to enhance pharmaceutical care delivery, including computer systems and robotic dispensing systems.
  • Offer drug information and educational resources to healthcare professionals and pharmacy students.
  • Engage with physicians and nursing staff to clarify any ambiguous or incomplete orders promptly.
  • Support formulary management by minimizing non-formulary procurements and promoting rational drug therapy choices.
  • Comply with all regulatory standards, professional practice guidelines, and quality management policies in the provision of pharmaceutical care.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D.) from an accredited institution is required.
  • Preferred experience includes 3-6 months in a hospital pharmacy setting.
  • Familiarity with investigational drug control procedures and protocol design is advantageous.

Licensure:

  • Current Pharmacist license is required.
