As an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the advancement of oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct oral and radiographic examinations to diagnose pathological or irregular oral conditions.
  • Perform surgical procedures, including admissions, work-ups, and complex dental extractions.
  • Treat orthognathic deformities, grafting procedures, and provide safe and effective anesthesia services.
  • Manage medically complex patients, including inpatients, and perform history and physical examinations.
  • Collaborate with other dentists and physicians to provide comprehensive patient care.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Dental Surgery or dental medicine degree from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a residency program in general practice or specialty, or comparable experience.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the dental treatment and preventive maintenance of medically compromised veteran patients.
Working Conditions

This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations.

The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on stakeholder needs.

Education

Only education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions may be used to qualify for Federal employment.

If you are using foreign education to meet qualification requirements, you must send a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript in order to receive credit for that education.
