Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Internal Investigator 1 OPWDD to join our team. As an Internal Investigator 1 OPWDD, you will be responsible for conducting thorough and accurate investigations into alleged instances of abuse and neglect, as well as other types of employee misconduct.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formulate plans, processes, and timetables to conduct investigations within specified timeframes.
  • Prepare for and conduct interviews, obtain sworn statements, and gather evidence to support investigation outcomes.
  • Document and preserve information and evidence related to investigations.
  • Write narrative reports to effectively communicate investigation results to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with OPWDD facilities, programs, and Office of Employee Relations staff to ensure fair and timely investigations.
  • Conduct investigations in a confidential manner, adhering to collective bargaining agreements.
  • Make recommendations to supervisors and other stakeholders regarding possible policy and procedure violations.
  • Provide testimony at arbitration hearings to support investigation outcomes.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Six years of field investigative or law enforcement investigative experience.
  • Experience in conducting cyber crime investigations, including evidence collection and preservation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in conducting investigations in a government or public sector setting is highly desirable.

Substitutions

An Associate's degree may be substituted for two years of field investigative or law enforcement investigative experience. Two years of OPWDD experience may also be substituted for two years of field investigative or law enforcement investigative experience. A Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years of field investigative or law enforcement investigative experience.

Regardless of any substitution, all candidates must have at least two years of field investigative experience or law enforcement investigative experience.

Types of investigative experience that may be considered qualifying include experience in positions such as Police Detective, Insurance Investigator, Licensed and Registered Private Investigator, Federal Investigator, State Investigator, Municipal Investigator, Child Protective Services Investigator, or Investigations within a branch of the Armed Services.

Types of non-qualifying investigative experience include, but are not limited to, experience in Routine Police Patrol Work, Security Guard or Related Security Position, Tax Collector, Collector of Delinquent Accounts, Credit Checker, Legal Assistant/Attorney, Hotel or store detective, Loss Prevention Officer, Parole Officer, Correction Officer/Guard, Fire and Safety inspector, or experience in credit verification, auditing, employment interviewing, building surveillance, traffic enforcement, or performing routine inspections or surveys.
