Travel CT Technologist Position

FlexStaff is seeking a skilled CT Technologist to join their team for a travel assignment in New York. The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing patients for examination, explaining procedures, and setting up equipment to administer the proper procedure in a timely fashion.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing patients for examination and explaining procedures
- Setting up equipment to administer the proper procedure
- Ensuring that a consent form for IV contrast materials has been obtained and screens for pregnancy
- Performing CT procedures, including abdominal, thoracic, neurological exams, extremities, sub-periosteal implant planning, radiation therapy treatment planning, biopsies, etc.
- Preparing patient for exam by placing and positioning patient on exam table within the gantry
- Adjusting and ensuring proper slice thickness and couch increment
- In collaboration with Radiologist, extending parameters, if needed, within established imaging protocols
- Utilizing special devices to reduce exposure to ionizing radiation of radiosensitive areas
- Adjusting CT equipment to capture appropriate field of view and transmitting cases to on-call Radiologist through use of Tele-Radiology system
- Administering intravenous (IV) and oral contrast agents as per Radiologist order and performing venipuncture of the appropriate gauge necessary for examination
- Explaining in layman's terms the administration of IV contrast and completing the IV Contrast Information Sheet with information provided by the patient, family member or health care proxy
- Utilizing appropriate flush technique for an existing IV line, if needed, and utilizing power injector to administer IV contrast
- Recognizing and assisting in the treatment of contrast agent reactions and IV extravasations
