About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Director to lead our Third-Party Risk Management team within the Enterprise Risk Management organization. As a key member of our risk management team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective risk management strategies to mitigate potential risks associated with third-party vendors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Third-Party Risk Management team in developing and implementing risk management strategies to mitigate potential risks associated with third-party vendors.
  • Chair the Third-Party Risk Management Subcommittee, consisting of cross-functional members from various departments, to challenge and approve key third-party risk management policies and activities.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Vendor Management to enhance the third-party risk profile of the firm.
  • Evaluate regulatory requirements and industry best practices to establish clear and measurable expectations for the TPRM program and related capabilities.
  • Maintain productive stakeholder relationships across Corporate Risk Management and other departments.
  • Develop and implement risk reporting, including the build-out of risk metrics in line with the firm's risk appetite.
  • Partner with management to drive focus on mitigation of risk and implement management action plans to address open third-party risk issues.
  • Develop an understanding of Schwab's TPRM program and its alignment to the firm's strategy, risk appetite, and inter-relation of business processes and risk programs.
Requirements
  • Minimum of seven years of senior-level third-party risk management experience within a diversified financial services environment.
  • Minimum of five years of leading a substantial team within the risk management function.
  • Strong working knowledge of core enterprise and operational risk practices and program elements.
  • Depth of knowledge of the third-party risk management lifecycle.
  • Depth of knowledge of regulatory requirements and guidance related to third-party risk management.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills to articulate risk management perspective to senior-level executives and regulators.
  • Commands a comprehensive understanding of third-party trends impacting risk assessment programs in a diversified financial services firm.
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment, making decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • Positive leadership mindset, proactively engaging team members in meaningful ways, and helping establish organizational objectives, goals, and success measures at various organizational and individual levels.
  • Strong emotional intelligence/maturity and senior-level executive presence.
  • Thrives on initiating, building, and cultivating strong relationships inside and outside of the organization; highly collaborative; navigates and activates alignment across organizational silos as well as the enterprise as a whole.
  • Exceptionally client-focused; able to build relationships and establish trust, respect, competence, and credibility effectively and quickly.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
