Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Privacy Counsel to join our team at OpenTable. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing our global privacy program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of global privacy laws and regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with privacy laws and regulations, including product development, marketing, and sales teams.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on privacy-related matters, including data protection, data sharing, and data subject rights.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with privacy laws and regulations.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments and risk assessments to identify potential privacy risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, industry associations, and other external partners.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and developments in privacy law and regulation, and provide guidance to the business on how to navigate these changes.
Requirements
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in privacy law, with a strong background in global data protection regulations.
  • J.D. from a nationally or internationally-recognized law school and admission to the bar in at least one US state.
  • CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing privacy programs, including data protection policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leaders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate potential privacy risks.
