MISSION STATEMENT:
The Archdiocese of San Antonio Preschool embraces the mission of sharing the teachings of Jesus Christ through our actions and words.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The primary role is to implement a daily educational program aligned with the goals and values of the Archdiocese of San Antonio Preschool for children aged 18 months to 5 years.
PURPOSE:
To cultivate a nurturing educational environment that addresses each child's spiritual and cognitive development according to their age and abilities, fostering faith-filled, well-rounded learners.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Welcome and integrate each child upon arrival.
- Create an engaging atmosphere that supports the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of each child.
- Adapt teaching methods and curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Observe and respond to the interests and needs of children in the classroom.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of every child.
- Supervise children at all times.
- Design and execute the Experience Early Learning Curriculum with lesson plans and necessary materials.
- Collaborate with fellow staff members in planning and teaching.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and child progress.
- Utilize technology for effective communication with parents regarding lesson plans and schedules.
- Participate in all scheduled staff meetings.
- Prepare newsletters to inform parents about class activities.
- Assist with children's bathroom needs as required.
- Provide care for ill or injured children.
- Adhere to program policies and state licensing standards.
- Maintain a clean classroom and promote appropriate interactions among children.
- Be available for parent conferences as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must be able to work according to the school year calendar, including special events.
- Attend required workshops for Continuing Education.
- Ensure cleanliness of toys and surfaces as per established procedures.
- Capable of lifting children weighing 30-40 lbs as necessary.
- Engage in activities that require standing, walking, sitting, bending, and reaching frequently.
NEEDED ATTRIBUTES:
- Ability to communicate effectively with young children and adults through various means.
- Strong organizational skills for curriculum planning and classroom management.
- Experience handling special circumstances, including behavioral issues and children with special needs.
- Provide a supportive environment that encourages independence and the development of unique talents.
- Exhibit a strong work ethic, punctuality, and professionalism.
- Must consent to a background check.
- Demonstrate flexibility and a positive attitude while promoting the values of the Archdiocese of San Antonio Preschool.
SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in child care is necessary.
- Prior teaching experience in preschool or early childhood education is essential.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with the Preschool Director and staff.
- Engage with parents and children enrolled in the program.
- Collaborate professionally with Assistant Teachers.
