Job Description

Position Title: Residential Advisor

Location: Gerald R. Ford Job Corps Center

Department: Residential

Reports To: Counseling Supervisor

The Residential Advisor plays a critical role in ensuring a safe and supportive living environment for students at the Human Learning Systems center. This position requires a high level of supervision, behavior management, and mentorship to help students adjust to center life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and mentor students in daily activities, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their goals.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to help them improve their performance.
  • Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior and a safe living environment.
  • Conduct dormitory operations in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Provide informal counseling to students on issues such as stress management, personal problems, and emergency situations.
  • Facilitate small group discussions on life skills, peer mediation, conflict resolution, and other relevant topics.
  • Ensure student safety and security by performing regular perimeter checks and maintaining a clean and well-maintained dormitory.
  • Document student records and access relevant student data, including attendance, performance, and progress.
  • Provide prompt assistance to students in the event of injury, illness, or emotional trauma, and provide CPR/First Aid as needed.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid state driver's license
  • CPR/First Aid certifications (training provided upon hire)
