Basketball Coach

Job Summary

We are seeking exceptional candidates for the High School Boys' JV Basketball Coach position at Convent and Stuart Hall. The ideal candidate will be a high-energy, skilled, and organized coach who can create a positive atmosphere for our student-athletes to thrive. The coach should be enthusiastic about building our Basketball program and have a strong commitment to sportsmanship and character development.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement the scheduling of team activities, tryouts, practices, game plans, and summer activities
  • Develop and execute practice and game plans for all playing positions
  • Supervise all assistant coaching staff
  • Follow CIF rules and regulations
  • Foster training in conduct, ethics, and sportsmanship for all participants and coaches
  • Supervise the team before, during, and after practices, games, and sporting events
  • Verify that the Athletic Director has cleared each team member before allowing them to try out or practice
  • Responsible for the distribution and collection of all uniforms and equipment and providing an end of the season inventory
  • Work with the Athletic Director, Principal Designee, Principal, and other coaches to solve problems at the school level while supporting the ideas of the program/parent concern procedures
  • Continually review the on-going effectiveness of the program at all levels
  • Adhere to all C&SH Athletics, league, and state policies

Qualifications
  • Candidates should have excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to differentiate to meet the needs of students with diverse learning profiles
  • Innovative, creative, and flexible coaching style
  • Understanding the developmental needs of students and how they learn best
  • Requires demonstrated and direct experience using a wide range of techniques
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and willing to take initiative
  • Must have excellent teamwork skills and the ability to work well with students and adults
  • Must be a role model and maintain a high level of professionalism
  • Experience with independent schools is strongly preferred

Must be willing to get: First Aid and CPR Certification, Concussion Training & Fundamentals of Coaching Certification

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly lifting or carrying 20-50 lbs.
  • Regular pushing/pulling/bending/stooping/kneeling
  • Regularly climbing stairs**
  • Regularly sitting or standing 4-8 hours
  • Requires physical presence, work to be performed on campus

Hourly Rate of Pay: Commensurate on experience
